This time could be lengthened if you are using a rigorous antivirus software and by checking for Windows Security Updates routinely.

About Setups

HelpMePC recommends that all PC computers be reformatted or in the case of Vista – a full recovery done often. If your computer is used by more than one person, or if the users are using the internet frequently, downloading music, games etc, adding and deleting software frequently then your computer should be reformatted once a year.

Keep in mind that more often than not, a fresh setup will be more cost effective than to have a software issue troubleshooted

What’s included in a HelpMePC Setup?

XP: First, your files are securely backed up before anything is done. Your business documents, spreadsheets and family photos are all safe. Then using your Windows software, the hard drive is reformatted. The operating system is then reinstalled along with the device drivers. The next step is to download and install the service packs and security updates. Depending on your version of XP, there may be up to 3 Service Packs, and approximately 54 or more security updates. This entails many returns to the Windows Update website to complete this task. Finally, your Office Suite, and antivirus will be installed. As a courtesy, we provide vacuuming (desktops only) and exterior cleaning to all computers serviced.

Note: XP will be a legacy operating system soon, and installation is very labour intensive. HelpMePC reserves the right to charge a premium for this setup. It’s time to consider Windows 7. It is fast, and easier to learn than Vista and is truly a real alternative to XP. See home page for system requirements or ask us if your computer is compatible.

VISTA: the setup includes the services above, but using your system recovery partition. The operating system is recovered, and any additional drives are reformatted.

Have a back-up plan

We cannot stress enough, the importance of having a backup solution. This can be as simple as saving a copy of all of your files to an external hard drive or copying all of your files to a CD/DVD.

Ask yourself, ‘Can I afford to lose all of my files, and photos forever?’ It could happen to you, if you don’t have a back-up plan.
